The reboot of the long-running Xbox RPG Fable franchise has been refined at the Xbox Game Showcase featuring the amazing Richard Ayoade setting the stage.
The trailer itself features a look at Albion’s new heroes that brings back the distinctive visual language of the original role-playing game series. It’s possible that this title could be considered one of the best RPGs of the decade, as there is still a lot of promise in this series.
The reboot of Fable was first announced at the 2021 Xbox Games Showcase with the reveal of the title, so it’s great to see something a little more substantial on this Xbox Series X and PC gaming staple. The tone certainly fits the Fable saga, with a mix of teen comedy and action, so the change of development studio doesn’t seem too different right now.
No release date has been given, but Fable hasn’t graced the Xbox platform in over a decade and was the cornerstone of the sixth and seventh generation consoles. There has been no main entry in the series since then fairy tale 3 until 2010.
Having a giant Richard Ayode seems like a brand name for a fantasy show that has always been a bit of a joke. The series has a rich history of portraying British comedians in minor roles in their games, with earlier examples of John Cleese and Jonathan Ross in fairy tale 3. Whether it’s just a wink and nod or will have any semblance of plot significance remains to be seen, but it’s certainly memorable.
While E3 2023 won’t be taking place this year, that hasn’t stopped other publishers from hosting their own conferences. We give you everything you need to know here.
