Overwatch 2 will get a brand new update in August as revealed in a new trailer. As part of the E3 2023 announcement cavalcade, Overwatch 2: Invasion promises to add many “new ways to play” to the Overwatch formula.
This includes much-requested story missions, as well as new co-op events, a shooting range, champion mastery challenges, and the all-new “Flashpoint” game mode.
Fans expressed disappointment with Blizzard’s decision to pull back from plans for single-player content. However, with any luck, this patch will go some way to mending hurt feelings and give Overwatch 2’s characters the narrative they deserve.
The title has been in dire need of single-player story content for some time now. This was originally promised as part of a transition from the original Overwatch for its continuation. However, Blizzard pushed back the addition of the narrative mode, delaying its release.
Overwatch 2 has a great cast of characters. From the stoic healer Mercy to the freedom-fighting automaton Ramattra, Blizzard’s diverse team of shooters in the arena have long been clamoring for a full story mission.
While this may seem like a minor detail, the addition of a hero mastery quest feels like a gentle step in overwatch 2, helping new players understand the more complicated aspects of the game’s frenetic PvP. Overwatch 2 it has a relatively sparse tutorial, sometimes leaving new players in the dark. With a bit of luck, a hero’s specialization can go a long way in solving this problem.
It looks like Flashpoint’s new game mode will shake things up as well Overwatch 2 scene in style. Although we do not know the details yet because Overwatch 2 is essentially a PvP game, the addition of a new mode will likely add a breath of fresh air to the meta.
Overwatch 2: Invasion comes out on August 10 PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
