Below are full spoilers for Episode 8 of The Rings of Power.
The cast of Rings of Power revealed how creating the title rings will impact their characters in Season 2.
Speaking exclusively to TechRadar prior to Episode 8 of The Rings of Power, Morfydd Clark, who plays Galadriel, revealed that the hand of the elven warrior in their forging and the events of the Rings of Power season 1 finale will leave an indelible impression on her. So much so that Galadriel may begin to show the traits and abilities that Lord of the Rings fans have come to expect from the ethereal being we see in the Third Age of Middle-earth.
However, before Galadriel becomes the powerful all-seeing elf we saw in the Lord of the Rings trilogues by Peter Jackson and The Hobbit, she has to overcome further obstacles. Namely, having a ring called Nenya and being responsible for its safety, and accepting the key role that her brother Finrod’s dagger played in their creation.
“I can’t wait to discover how she gains power from owning the ring without feeling powerful,” says TechRadar. “And what this kind of dualism would be is very interesting.
“Throughout Season 1, we’ve seen part of Galadriel’s ethos as elf, just existing. She is not related to any part of being an elf other than Finrod’s dagger. It faded away. She was becoming as much a memory as her brother. So I was grateful that she could be free of it.

“There is great sadness that I feel letting it go, but also there is freedom up to this point. She is also doing this to save her people – she made huge mistakes but is still forced to save many people. Now she returns to her elves, and being with them again will eventually lead her to become the more mysterious, elf of Lothlorien we see in the Third Age.
What about the actual ring maker also known as Celebrimbor? The Elven Blacksmith plays a major role in their forging in JRR Tolkien’s source material and Prime Video Series on Bidding Budget. So how will it feel after making a trio of powerful jewelry? Considering who the ancestors of Celebrimbor are, will creating elven rings help him fulfill the age-old desire to eclipse what his ancestors forged?
“I imagine it will drop after the show,” says TechRadar Charles Edwards, who plays Celebrimbor. “He made rings. Now she has to wait and see what they do. Will they bring the desired effect [to save the elves]? Either way, Celebrimbor won’t want to leave his workshop. He has a lot of other work to do. I think Halbrand aroused his interest and kindled something in Celebrimbor. By being the creative person she is, you go with her and see where it takes you.
“Of course, it wasn’t explicitly stated that he was Feanor’s grandson. He has Feanor’s hammer, but does not refer to him in a family sense. shadow and tried to outrun it. I think ring making does, but there are still a lot of colors associated with his character in season 2. “
Speaking of Halbrand – or rather Sauron, as we learn in Prime Video Episode 8 – inadvertently plays a role in their making. While not explicitly involved in forging them, Sauron’s idea is to combine mithril with other metals and then create two items instead of one, resulting in the creation of the first of the title rings.
For Charlie Vickers, who plays Halbrand / Sauron in Amazon’s Lord of the Rings, forging iconic jewelry pieces – and Sauron’s involvement in it – ultimately puts the Dark Lord on a path to realizing how the Earth can “heal”.
“Their creation is similar to what we see in the Tolkien tradition,” says Vickers. “They were made through his influences and directions, but he doesn’t create them directly. They were made regardless of his physical touch. So even though they are susceptible to the One Ring, they cannot be controlled by the One Ring which eventually does. As soon as he wears this ring, the elves immediately know that he created it through his influence on forging their rings.
So can we expect season 2 to see the legendary One Ring forged in the fires of Mount Doom? Vickers doesn’t confirm that much, but it looks like there might be a possibility.
“When Sauron descends this cliff face into Mordor, he has a plan,” teases Vickers. “On the chessboard, he always has five to ten moves ahead. Now we will really see his true form. Showrunner has a very clear plan, with some I am privy to at the moment. We will really see transforming into a character that always thinks ahead. We’ve seen it before, but it’s going to be really clear in Season 2. ”
